Apply for Pre-K

The 2025-26 MNPS Pre-K application is open. Families can continue to apply for the 2024-25 Pre-K Program and will be placed as vacancies occur.

The initial 2025-26 Pre-K selection results are now available for families who applied by March 31, 2025 (3:30 p.m.). Families are encouraged to continue applying for the upcoming school year and will be placed as openings become available. 

 

Pre-K Requirements and Program Information

MNPS Pre-K programs prepare your child for kindergarten by developing foundational academic skills through play-based learning. Early learning programs are available throughout Davidson County. 

Age Requirements

  • child must be 4 years old on or before August 15 of the current school year to apply for MNPS Pre-K.student on slide
  • Some MNPS Pre-K programs accept 3-year-olds. A child must be 3 years old on or before August 15 of the current school year to apply for these programs. During the selection process, 3-year-olds who will be turning four between August 16 - September 30 will be given priority.
  • Families that are already working with the MNPS Exceptional Education (EE) Department, or if your child is transitioning from Tennessee Early Intervention Services (TEIS), can complete steps 1 and 2 (below) starting at 2 years 7 months old.

    Gather All Required Documents

    Gather your required documents

    2025-26 Required Documents
    • Birth certificate or record of birth
    • Proof of Davidson County residency: current utility bill, telephone, lease, or homeowner policy in the parent/guardian name.
    • Parent/Guardian photo ID (Parent/Guardian must be present if applying in person)
    • TN Immunization Certificate or appropriate medical or religious exemption forms
    • Student Physical dated within one year of application

    • Birth certificate or record of birth
    • Proof of Davidson County residency: current utility bill, telephone, lease, or homeowner policy in the parent/guardian name.
    • Parent/Guardian photo ID (Parent/Guardian must be present if scheduling an appointment with an Enrollment Center)

    Obtain a Student Identification Number

    There are two ways to receive a Student Identification Number:

    • Get your Student Identification Number through the MNPS Online Portal and follow instructions to upload the required documents.
    • You also can make an appointment to visit an MNPS Enrollment Center in person to request a Student Identification Number.

    Note: It may take up to a day for your MNPS Student ID number to connect to the Pre-K application platform.

    Apply for Pre-K Online or In Person

    Applying Online:
    • Complete and submit the online Pre-K Application (families will need to create an account) or contact the Family Information Center at (615) 259-4636 for questions.
    • For the 2025-26 school year: Families who apply by March 31 were included in the initial application selection process.
      • Applications will continue to be accepted and applicants will be placed as vacancies occur.
    • After submitting the Pre-K application, families will receive instructions about next steps. Families can also view their Pre-K selection results by visiting the Pre-K application website

    *Note: Families will need to upload income documentation with the Pre-K application. Photo of the document can be uploaded. 

    In-Person Application Option

    Applications can be submitted in person at the Family Information Center.

Tips & Reminders When Applying to Pre-K

  • It may take up to a day for your MNPS Student ID number to connect to the Pre-K application platform, so obtain your child's ID number as soon as possible.
  • Select the correct school year you are applying to, as there may be two options when applying.
  • Families are encouraged to apply after the initial Pre-K application selection, as spots will be filled as vacancies occur.
  • Families who need help uploading documents can visit the Family Information Center. 
  • Families will need to upload income documentation with the Pre-K application (photos of the document to upload are accepted).

What's Next after Applying? 

Families will receive instructions on how to view the selection results and if selected can accept the seat by the stated deadline.

Dates are listed here are for the 2025 - 2026 Pre-K application process for families who applied between March 3, 2025, and March 31, 2025 (by 3:30 p.m.).

  • New Date: April 21 (previously April 14): Selection results.
  • New Date: May 5 (previously April 28): Deadline to accept the seat.
  • New Date: May 6 (previously April 29): School Mint will begin making additional daily pulls to fill the remaining vacancies.
