Pre-K Attendance Matters

Pre-K Program Attendance Guidelines

  • Ten or more unexcused absences, tardies or early dismissals could affect your child's continued enrollment in the Pre-K program.
  • Attendance is monitored and recorded daily by your child's school.
  • If your child is absent, please provide your child's teacher with a written excuse/note within 3 days of their return to school.

Tips to Support Healthy Attendance

  • Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
  • Discuss with your child the importance of attending school and help them get excited about going.
  • Schedule appointments and trips when school is not in session. Visit the MNPS District Calendar
  • Create a backup plan in case you are not able to take your child to and from school.

Don't Forget!

It is essential to establish good attendance habits for your child, which includes arriving and picking up on time each day, ensuring your child attends the entire program day, and minimizing absences.

The routines your child develops in Pre-K and Kindergarten will set the pace for the rest of school, so make the most of early grades by encouraging your child to attend every day.
